TEXT: Restaurant Valvas’or is located at Stari trg in Ljubljana. It was designed in 2007 and is named after famous Slovenian Janez Vajkard Valvasor.
The restaurant is designed as a modern, sober space with an old arched ceiling. The idea was to create a space where old and new harmoniously unite and create the restaurant’s unique image. The wish was to preserve the charm and character of the old space, maintain a feeling of spaciousness, add a metropolitan touch and create a gourmet atmosphere. The ground floor level has a view on the street On the left side there are tables placed in front of a brown leather sitting element. On the right side, beneath a pair of gold metal chandeliers, two round tables are placed for 6 to 8 guests. Tables are situated in front a golden, perforated metal wall that shows a motif of 16th century Ljubljana. Behind the perforation a mirror has been placed to give the room greater depth. The restaurant’s interior is dominated by warm colors of creamy beige, chocolate brown and gold. The restaurant Valvas’or was nominated for several design awards and is included in Wallpaper guide of Ljubljana.
